The OnePlus X Is a low-priced Android Phone in High-End Disguise
The design isn’t original or adventurous, but it’s certainly slicker than most handsets in its class. It’s not a top-tier flagship like the OnePlus 2, but that was always the company’s intention.

With this latest move by Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus, the company has become another addition in the famous bandwagon “Make in India”. The OnePlus X comes with a 13-megapixel camera on the rear, while the front-facing camera features a high-resolution 8-megapixel sensor. The company is still sticking to its Invite Only ecosystem, for the OnePlus X smartphone, like its siblings, OnePlus One or OnePlus Two.
The OnePlus X Onyx retails at £199, while the OnePlus X Ceramic costs £269. In keeping up with tradition, it too will require an invite come purchase time, but this is said to only last for the first month after going on sale. Experimentation, that’s what. OnePlus knows it has a solid device in the flagship OnePlus 2 and a mostly loyal audience of fans.
For more information, check out the OnePlus X product page on the company’s website. The limited Ceramic edition, which needs separate invites, is priced at Rs 22,999.
The OnePlus X has a one major similarity to the pricier OnePlus Two ($329), which is the special Alert Slider found on the X’s left side. In true OnePlus fashion, customers will need a specific invitation for the ceramic version. It measures 140 x 69 x 6.9 mm, weighs in at 138 grams, and it’s kept alive by a 2,525 mAh LiPo battery. There’s no denying it: there’s a whiff of the iPhone 4 and iPhone 5 to this new handset. With its 5-inch screen, the X should be fairly easy to use one-handed for most folks, and its spec list is pretty decent for the price. With Qualcomm nearing the release of the 820, the silicon most likely in all the best phones for 2016, the OnePlus X trends in the opposite direction and packs in a Snapdragon 801, the same processor used in 2014’s OnePlus One.
But the OnePlus X isn’t all show either.
After November, OnePlus will be introducing an open-sales windows each week whereby anyone can buy a phone online on the spot.

Go hurry, the invites are limited, go and get yours soon. Oh and there’s also an Ambient Display feature which will kick in when you receive notifications, take the phone out of your pocket, or wave your hand across the display.
