Tommy Armstrong Jr. In A Boot At Nebraska Practice, Backup Quarterback
Junior Ryker Fyfe is set to start at quarterback for Nebraska on Saturday in place of injured starter Tommy Armstrong Jr. as the Cornhuskers visit Purdue (noon ET, ESPNU). Armstrong has been unable to practice this week after re-injuring his foot in Saturday’s loss to Northwestern. According to practice reports, he has been held out of this week’s practices so far, and is wearing a boot, while second stringer Ryker Fyfe takes first team reps.

Armstrong regressed in his rehabilitation late this week, Riley said, but he does not think the injury will be a long-term issue. I don’t think that means long term, necessarily. He’s completed five of the 11 passes he’s thrown for 45 yards and a touchdown and rushed eight times for 50 yards.
The walk-on QB from Grand Island will be the man behind center when the Huskers take on the Boilermakers Saturday. “He has prepared well from the very start of camp”. “It’s just experience in playing. With that investment said, we will be physical and play hard”. “He has run all these plays”.

Other Huskers who will be out with injury include linebackers Michael Rose-Ivey and Luke Gifford, defensive tackle Kevin Williams, wide receiver Alonzo Moore and offensive tackle David Knevel.
