Caio Magalhaes Handed Suspension For Post-Fight Antics

UFC middleweight Caio Magalhaes will be counting his blessings after being slapped with a six-month suspension and 40 hours of community service for unsportsmanlike conduct by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. After forcing Magalhaes to tap, Samman attempted to shake hands, but was instead met by Magalhaes spitting blood at him. MMAjunkie reports that the Commission unanimously voted on the suspension and community service.

The lesson – don’t spit on people, it’s not nice.

Interestingly enough, Magalhaes – through his translator during the NAC hearing – stated that he had dinner with Samman to clear the air between the two. Samman, however, denied that such a meeting occurred via Twitter. Commissioner Pat Lundvall compared the case to an infamous brawl between ex-light heavyweight champ Jon Jones and current champ Daniel Cormier, but said Magalhaes was far more contrite about his actions. The loss to Samman ended a four-fight winning streak for Magalhaes, who finished three of those triumphs inside the distance. Magalahes is 4-2 in the UFC and 9-2 as a professional overall.
