Mario Maker update introduces mid-level checkpoints

Granted level creators aren’t required to add in checkpoints, but it’s sure to be appreciated by the average player. These will feature levels from partner creators outside Nintendo. The answer is free content updates. Engineers Doug Strait and Roy McElmurry presented their level to a panel of judges from Nintendo and Facebook, including Bill Trinen, Krysta Yang, Rachel Kroll, Ime Archibong, and Scott Moffitt. The addition of checkpoints could make the game easier for players as they no longer have to restart each course from the beginning if they fail. Certain elements are already unlocked, such as Mystery Blocks, gold coins, and Goomba enemies. Even with more than three million levels uploaded so far, Nintendo is going to give its fans a few brand new reasons to keep jumping back in. As anyone that has played “Super Mario Maker” before will know, that’s not typically possible. If you’re expecting a huge bonanza of new items and enemies with which to fill your worlds, you may be disappointed, as Nintendo is only adding two new level-design features. Or fill a level with nothing but gold coins and a finish line. The best part about this game is that you can share your creations with other players. The first is 10 Mario Challenge. Say, for example, Mario is small.

Remember when the Nintendo World Championship from E3 2015 introduced three maps specifically tailored for the event, which were eventually added into Super Mario Maker itself?

Official Mario Maker courses are now in course selection.

The update also allows you to stack power-ups.
