The 62-year-old Imran Khan and 41-year-old Reham Khan got married in a simple ceremony at the former’s residence in Bani Gala in Islamabad on January 8, 2015. They made a decision to separate over an important and serious issue, Naeem added.

Reham, divorced mother-of-three, earlier lived in Britain and was associated with BBC as a weather host. They lived their married life for nine years and divorced in 2004 with mutual consent.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has ended his marriage with wife Reham Khan.

One of Imran Khan’s friends, speaking to Newsweek on condition of anonymity, said the couple’s marital problems had been common knowledge for a few months now.

Off the pitch, he had a string of socialite girlfriends and frequented exclusive nightclubs in London until he married Jemima Goldsmith, the daughter of the French-British tycoon James, in 1995. He has two sons – Salman and Qasim – from Jemima.

It is learnt that Imran Khan’s sisters and family friends had never accepted Reham Khan that became major reason for the divorce. “I strongly urge the media to desist from such baseless statements”.

However, according to Arif Nizami, Imran Khan didn’t agree to provide that much money, saying that he didn’t have enough money. His report was widely criticised by political and media circles.

However, after Imran received much criticism upon his wife’s participation in politics, Imran restricted Reham to home making her not to get outgoing and taking part in social or political affairs. Dr Uzma was reported to be angry at Imran for not taking her into confidence before the marriage.
