Forget standing desks, time to lie down

But in the case of Altwork Station, when you’re totally horizontal your keyboard and monitor remain perfectly positioned and perpendicular to you.

Apparently this is good for your health.

A few who have tested out the new desk offered rave reviews about the opportunity to work while lying down.

Designed by aerospace engineers, the Altwork Station can be set to a zero-gravity position, but it can also be set to a standing or sitting position. Unlike standard desk+chair workstations, high intensity computer users can use the product to sit, stand, focus (recline) and collaborate.

Altwork says that though studies are unclear, most experts agree that sitting for extended periods is not healthy, and that workers should change position throughout the day.

Several tech outlets have already demoed the Altwork Station, and it’s getting mostly rave reviews.

The high-tech workstation has built-in controls for the motorized parts, and you can save presets for future use.

With the Altwork Station, you can work as if you’re lying down in bed, with a floating monitor and computer, that is. Pre-orders are available now and it is expected to begin shipping mid-2016, but if you were to order it later, expect to $5,900 which will be its regular price. The only problem is that you might fall asleep on it or even never get out of it except for bathroom breaks.

The new chair looks like a dental chair, but it is very comfortable. He says that coders who have tried out the Altwork Station have often remarked that the only thing they would need to fully zone out into their own worlds for hours at a time is a pair of headphones.
