However coach Ken Whisenhunt isn’t tipping his hand as to whether Mariota or Zach Mettenberger will start Sunday when the Titans take on the Houston Texans on the road.

“I am a competitor and to stand on the sideline, and not be able to contribute to the team, it was tough”, Mariota told the Titans team website. Again, we’ve just kind of going to monitor the progress throughout the week. “I don’t have much more to say other than that at this point”.

Dorial Green-Beckham #17 of the Tennessee Titans plays during a pre-season game against the St. Louis Rams at Nissan Stadium on August 23, 2015 in Nashville, Tennessee.

“I went, threw a few routes, did a few handoffs and it felt good”.

“He is getting better, and that is a good thing, ” Whisenhunt said.

WR Harry Douglas (rib cartilage) is still out with an injury that kept him out of practice all last week and out of Sunday’s game against Atlanta, his former team.

Mariota continues to recover from a sprained left MCL that he suffered 10 days ago against the Dolphins.

Mariota and the team will evaluate his status throughout the week and a decision will be made on Friday if Mariota will play.
