Volkswagen: New SUV Production in Chattanooga to Start Late 2016
The Chattanooga plant’s Chief Executive Officer, Christian Koch, stated in a press release in that the company must “deepen our commitment to America”. Production of the new vehicle will be integrated into the current plant structure. The legislature came up with 165.7 million dollars in incentives to encourage V-W to build it’s new 7 passenger SUV here in Chattanooga. “The United States of America is still one of Volkswagen’s most important markets”, Horn continued. The plant has made more than 500,000 Passats since 2011.

“I encourage everyone at VW to do whatever it takes to get this behind us as quick as possible”, she said.
Both men wanted to hear from the state Economic Development commissioner Randy Boyd, who visited the plant in September to ask those questions.
Besides investing in a new manufacturing line for the mid-size SUV, VW has created a new Engineering and Planning Center in Chattanooga, which will house all future projects for the North American market.
“It’s a great vehicle”, he said.
“We believe Volkswagen will fully recover from the emissions scandal and, as a result, will emerge as a stronger company”, he said in an email.

Earlier this week, VW reported a $1.83 billion third-quarter loss as it continued to deal with the disclosure that it inserted the cheating software on 11 million vehicles, including almost 500,000 in the U.S. Volkswagen on Thursday, October 29, 2015 said it is sticking with planned investments at its Chattanooga plant – including production of a new SUV there next year – despite the uncertainty caused by its emissions scandal.
