All-Female Version Of Ocean’s 11 In The Works

Probably not. It is indeed a good business move to remake Ocean’s Eleven – which, by the way, wasn’t even an original movie back in 2001.

Screenwriter Olivia Milch (Queen & Country, Little Women) has reportedly already drafted a screenplay, and Gary Ross (The Hunger Games, Pleasantville) is on board to direct.

So, if Sandra Bullock is playing the role that Clooney played, then which actresses could you see stepping in for the film’s other cast members? Clooney, for his part, doesn’t seem to mind – he’s helping produce it. Read about the female Oceans Eleven movie after the jump.

Though there were rumblings that this could happen, many assumed the project hit a speed bump last summer with the passing of Jerry Weintraub.

She will follow in the footsteps of Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig who have been filming a female version of Ghostbusters with Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones from Saturday Night Live. Charlize Theron recently signed on to crime thriller The Grey Man, replacing Brad Pitt as the lead, while Tilda Swinton will play The Ancient One in Marvel’s Doctor odd, which was a male role in the comics.

This makes the second time Bullock has taken a role from her former Gravity co-star. The report also suggests that Clooney himself might make a cameo appearance as his character Danny Ocean, meaning that Bullock’s character would have to be entirely new. The 2001 film was itself a remake of a 1960 heist movie starring five members of the so-called Hollywood “Rat Pack” including Frank Sinatra.
