Within a few weeks of its release, the iPhone 6s was posting huge sales, not bad for its first quarter.

Apple disclosed its sales number for Q4 of this year, saying that it has sold 48 million iPhones in this quarter.

Apple today announced financial results for its fiscal 2015 fourth quarter ended September 26, 2015.

Analysts speculated a figure of about 48.5 million, but 4Q sales were still slightly above the 47.5 million units sold in Q3, reported TechCrunch.

Apple has China to thank in part for its blockbuster numbers: Growth in that region topped 99 percent this quarter-10 times the growth rates in the Americas and almost five times the growth rate in the rest of Asia, according to an article in The Verge. Last month, Apple introduced its newest generation of iPhones the 6s and sibling 6s Plus.

The extended distribution of its smartwatch and the continued growth in iPhone sales have helped Apple to an end-of-year revenue increase, resulting in a record year for the business. During the quarter, Apple also sold 9.88 million iPads and 5.71 million Macs.

Cook said that China’s economic slowdown seems to have no effect on the customers demand for iPhone and Apple products. That’s up from $2.6 billion in the June quarter, when IDC estimates Apple shipped about 3.6 million watches.

Chief executive Tim Cook said, “Apple closed the books on its fiscal year, calling it Apple’s most successful year ever, following strong iPhone sales and a range of new or upgraded devices”.

On Tuesday, Apple posted another enviable quarter of growth in both revenue and profit, which was fueled by its iPhone sales. In comparison, Asia Pacific had accounted for 5.95% of Apple’s revenues in the previous quarter.

However, Apple remained quiet about the performance of the Apple Watch and the iPad. O reported higher-than-expected quarterly revenue and profit as sales of iPhones surged 36 percent, driven by the launch of the 6S and 6S Plus models last month. China is by far Apple’s fastest growing market, and the company still believes that it will one day be its biggest.
