English actress/singer Naomi Scott, who recently played Ryoko in Ridley Scott’s adaptation of Andy Weir’s The Martian, will play the role of Pink Ranger.

Gomez’s Yellow Ranger will morph into action with her teammates when the Power Rangers movie hits theaters on January 13, 2017.

Rumors cited by the outlet also cited that there are implications that the original characters’ battle suits would be making an appearance somewhere in the film.

In order to save the world, the rangers will have to master their powers in the face of an unspeakable evil. Astute Power Ranger fans might recognize that the new Red Ranger, Callum Oliver, shares a last name with the original Green/White Ranger, Tommy Oliver. However, the Power Rangers social media accounts posted soon after Gomez’s casting that this movie will indeed be a reboot, so Gomez’s Trini will be fighting alongside new versions of Jason, Kimberly, Billy and Zack. Cyler is relatively new to the movie industry and had made himself noticed with his titular role in “Me, Earl, and the Dying Girl” which was released this summer. We haven’t seen any mention of a Green Ranger, but he will probably show up eventually…

The only one listed above that’s yet to be cast is the Yellow Ranger.

The latest report from Collider suggests “Power Rangers” will attach co-creator Haim Saban’s name to the title.

Further, the entertainment news source also revealed that, contrary to earlier reports, the heroes will not have the same names as those in the original TV series.
