After accompanying them to their home, the players sexually assaulted one of the women while she was sleeping and then left the residence, Beaven-Desjardins added.

It is alleged that the men entered her bedroom and sexually assaulted her. Once the victim woke up, the men left the residence.

They are both wanted for sexual assault.

Piazon and team-mate Andrey Da Silva Ventura were both at the games as part of the Brazil squad. Goalkeeper Andrey, 22, plays São Paulo club Botafogo-SP, having previously represented their larger Rio namesake.

Piazon now plays for the Reading Football Club, on loan from the Premier League team Chelsea. He is wanted on an Ontario-wide warrant, which doesn’t trigger the extradition process.

Police have also confirmed that Mr Piazon and Mr Ventura are no longer in Canada and would need to be extradited in order to face the charges. Beaven-Desjardins said the woman would not be publicly identified.

Chelsea have yet to make any statement in response to the allegations.

He confirmed that Piazon is on loan from Chelsea to Reading, but reiterated that Piazon is Chelsea’s player.

Sexual assault is defined as any form of unwanted sexual contact, which includes, but is not limited to, kissing, grabbing, oral sex and penetration.

Following an investigation, Toronto police issued arrest warrants for 22-year-old Andrey Da Silva Ventura and 21-year-old Lucas Domingues Piazon.

“If he comes to Ontario, he is arrestable”, Beaven-Desjardins said.
