Prosecutors in Berlin say the man suspected of murdering a four-year-old migrant boy has admitted killing another young boy, Elias, missing from his home in Potsdam since July.

The suspect was arrested Thursday at his family’s house in Brandenburg, near Berlin, after he was reported to police by his mother. Authorities say he is being questioned and that an autopsy will be conducted later today to formally identify the body and establish the cause of death.

During the search, police published images from surveillance systems, showing a man leading away a child who was holding a plush toy.

It is unclear how the child became separated from his mother and siblings Melina and Kevin.

“The man confessed overnight that he had also killed Elias”, said Berlin police spokesman Stefan Redlich.

“These videos led to relatives of the suspect coming forward”, police spokesman Thomas Neuendorf said.

The 4-year old Mohamed was already dead on October 2, only a day after his kidnapping, officials said Friday.

As Germany gears up to receive up to one million asylum seekers this year, Berlin’s Lageso has seen lengthy queues of migrants waiting to be registered and often chaotic scenes. At the same time authorities announced rewards totaling 20,000 euros ($22,000) for information and described the suspect as of European appearance, slim, with dark hair and a beard.
