Sanders calls for end of death penalty
The group does not however make formal endorsements of candidates.

Senator Sanders comments differ from those of Democrat opponent and former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley who promised to use the executive powers of the President to “to move marijuana from Schedule I to Schedule II of the Controlled Substances Act”. I think it is absurd that over the years millions of people have been arrested for smoking marijuana. “Our criminal justice system is broken, and we need major changes in our criminal justice system – including changes in drug laws”, he said. Clinton is not ready to change federal law on marijuana and says the death penalty is an important tool in the belt of federal prosecutors. Under the Sanders plan, people in states which legalize marijuana would no longer be subject to federal prosecution for using pot. “I intend to speak out clearly and forcefully to influence as much as I can where we are going to go as a party and as a nation”.
The plan wouldn’t affect just college students, of course, but they are certainly a good demographic to make the pitch to. Despite equal usage of cannabis by white and black Americans, if you are black, you are four times more likely to be arrested for the possession of marijuana.
Sanders also got into hot water when he was running against Diane Gallagher for mayor of Burlington in 1985.
“If there’s anyone that should be elected to the White House, it’s him”, she said.
“We’re not legislating values”.
“Climate change is something that I deeply care about, and it’s something I’m devoting my career to”, Bettis said, adding that she likes how Sanders has made climate change a top issue in his campaign. “And anything that weakens the Constitution should be (addressed) by a constitutional amendment, not by a law passed by Congress”.
During the Democratic debate, for example, Sanders accused Clinton of “shouting” about gun control; Clinton later claimed that Sanders’ remark was an example of sexist language. At a time of rampant violence and murder, the State should not be part of that process.
For Sanders, the pledge to legalize marijana represent a pivot from the position that he used to hold. Jim Douglas, a Republican, but lawmakers were able to override the veto.

He also described Sanders as “a candidate who is so genuine and cares so deeply about the fate of our country”.
