The Royals will try to ride their pitching to a commanding 3-0 lead when they visit the Mets for Game 3 of the World Series on Friday. The New York Mets were touted as the pitching-rich club heading into the World Series, but it is the Kansas City staff that has the upper hand so far.

The Royals are seeking to overturn last year’s defeat in World Series to the San Francisco Giants to win their first title 30 years. The only Royal to have come to the plate against the rookie Syndergaard before tonight is Game 2 starter Johnny Cueto.

DeGrom, 3-0 in the post-season coming in, allowed four runs, six hits and three walks over five innings in a hairy matchup of pitchers with contrasting long locks. That is a situation they hope to avoid on Friday.
