The 24-year-old was playing for the Manipay Parish Sports Club when a ball hit him in the chest.

“We were called to reports a man in his 20s had been struck in the chest by a cricket ball”.
Bavalan was treated at scene before being taken to Kingston hospital in a life threatening condition.
The club said: “Our cricketer Bavalan Pathmanathan is no longer with us. Our club was totally shock by his death at this young age”. He showed his sympathy to the friends and family of dead cricketer.
The issue of player safety has been much discussed within cricket following the passing of ex- Australia batsman Phillip Hughes, who died after being struck in the neck by a bouncer in November. He had received CPR at the scene and ambulances were called to the ground, including aerial support, but his heart gave out.
