In NH, Jeb Bush looks to shift focus from debate

“I think Donald Trump has very possibly finished off Jeb Bush by wrapping George W. Bush around him”, says John Nichols, political writer for The Nation.

Ballard said he still believes Bush would be the most capable commander in chief of anyone in the race, but he acknowledged he is “really worried” about the campaign trajectory. Another, briefer version of the document released to media Monday included notes about Bush’s line of attack on Rubio, delivered just two days later at the Republican debate. Judd Gregg and the president of the New Hampshire state senate.

Bush’s campaign staff met with top donors in Houston earlier this week to keep them in the fold and delivered a 112-page document detailing how they would win the White House.

“I haven’t seen it”, Rubio said when asked for his reaction to the Bush campaign slide by Breitbart News.

With another debate coming up in Milwaukee on November 10, Jeb Bush, who served two terms as Florida’s governor, is seeking to reassure his supporters that he can perform better.

Anxious Bush supporters can only hope that’s the case. He said his immediate strategy is to spend a lot of time in New Hampshire. And while he has put out a few careful policy proposals on issues such as job growth, energy and healthcare, he remains out of step with many Republicans on other issues, namely immigration and education.

“Bush’s biggest problem is that he hasn’t been able to communicate that substance matters”.

Although Bush has said he wanted to approach his 2016 campaign with “joy”, he has been accused of being “low-energy” by Trump, and the media has picked up on his lack of enthusiasm, too. I think that, as I said I’m not running against any other people running for president. “The questions that are being asked shouldn’t be trying to get people to tear into each other”. That is a joke.

Standing on the banks of the Piscataqua River, Bush appeared alongside Judd Gregg, a former Republican governor and USA senator from the state, and said his debate performance should matter less than his “servant’s heart”.

That attitude is a far cry from someone excited to get through the next eight or so months of primary campaigning and then potentially another several months of a general campaign. He concedes that after Wednesday night’s CNBC debate, it’s not looking good for the candidate once seen as the easy establishment favorite. But with the extra pressure of a struggling campaign, he’ll need to exceed expectations to stave off his downward momentum.

“Here are the questions for him going forward”.
