Sania Mirza, Martina Hingis win 2015 WTA Finals title
Having won eight of the nine finals they have been in, there is a genuine case for calling them a big-match team ahead of Sunday’s test against the Spanish duo of Garbine Muguruza and C Suarez-Navarro.

SINGAPORE:Just another day at the office for the seemingly immovable pairing of Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis as they advanced to the summit clash of the WTA Finals at Singapore Indoor Stadium on Saturday.

The top seeded Sania and Martina, the only pair in the tournament to have not lost a set, will take on Chinese Taipei third seeds Chan Hao-ching and Chan Yung-jan in the last four round. Sania and Martina, individually ranked the world’s two highest doubles players, didn’t lose a set, let alone a match, in the five ties they played in the tournament this week. “It’s very different to what we played against players like yesterday, who have more power, different strategy”. The Indo-Swiss pair has won eight titles this year, including Grand Slam crowns at Wimbledon and the US Open. Sania-Martina improved their winning streak to 21 matches with the win. “When I first teamed up with Sania it was a trial at Indian Wells and Miami to see how it would go. We’ve done a few unbelievable things this year so it’s a ideal way to, you know, end the year for us”, she added. Already-eliminated Safarova said she met a delighted Kvitova in the locker room and “she said she might buy me a few beers”. The top-2 of each group progresses to the semifinals and the following winners to the finals. It also has the largest prize money and ranking points after the Grand Slams.
