Last year, The New York Times used similar data to show the substantial effects the Affordable Care Act had on reducing the number of Americans without health insurance.

More than 234,000 Arkansans were covered under the expanded Medicaid program as of September 30, and more than 53,000 people were covered by non-Medicaid plans on the exchange as of October 1.
“It seems like most of the Deep South is saying, ‘We are not doing it, ‘” said Tom Scully, a lobbyist who served as Medicare chief for former President George W. Bush. Its online experience makes enrolling in health care coverage simple, customizable and easy to navigate.
Millions of uninsured Americans, including tens of thousands of Arkansans, once again have the chance to enroll in health coverage and apply for subsidies to help pay for it.
To get coverage that starts January 1, consumers should enroll by December 15.
The Legislature has rejected several expansion proposals from Gov. Gary Herbert and, most recently, a compromise Herbert forged with legislative leaders over the summer called Utah Access Plus. By allowing its members to take more control of their health, BridgeSpan believes its consumers will be empowered to make informed health care decisions that can save them money. “It will take us a while to run out of people to reach”. Though expansion would extend health coverage to only adults, it’s been proven that when parents get coverage, they start thinking about – and acting on – their children’s coverage as well, Mandle said.
Backed by a $79,000 federal navigator contract this season, the partnership will brief fishermen’s spouses and children – who work in offices and at the docks – to help educate fishermen about the need for coverage. Most would be consumers renewing from this year, but one-third or more are expected to be new customers previously uninsured. In a few states, Enroll America’s 2014 estimates differed from the 2014 census by more than a few percentage points. This year, the fine is the greater of $325 or 2 percent of income. “That can be a motivating factor…not presenting it as a threat but informing people of it”, Filipic said. More than half could find plans for $75 in premiums per month or less after tax credits.
In many states, online marketplaces will offer more health plans than previous year because major insurers such as UnitedHealthcare are expanding into more exchanges. Kurt Berke, navigator manager for Planned Parenthood of the Heartland in Des Moines, Iowa, said at least three insurers will be on Iowa’s exchange, up from one last spring.
“There are other states where for political reasons there have been obstacles put up to implementation”, she said.

The remaining 98,000 are ineligible for assistance because their incomes are too high, they are eligible for employer-sponsored coverage, or they lack the proper immigration status, according to the report. Starting Monday, they can get in-person help signing up for health insurance at a community center, health clinic or from another nonprofit group. They “are validators and story tellers who can spread the word with their own experiences to bring others in the door”.
