Aer Lingus has cancelled eight flights between Ireland and airports in London today due to the density of fog in the United Kingdom capital. The mist was expected to clear by mid-afternoon.

A spokeswoman for the airline said a number of flights between Irish airports and London’s Heathrow and Gatwick airports were delayed for several hours due to the weather conditions there.
She said bonfires and firework displays will also add to the gloomy conditions this week as people celebrate Guy Fawkes Night.
According to RTE, most passengers affected by the cancelled flights have been accommodated on other flights or will be accommodated tomorrow.
The disruption at Heathrow comes on the last day of the school half-term holidays for much of the country, Britain’s Press Association reported.
But a weather expert has warned the fog could return by tomorrow morning threatening the cancellation of further flights.
Passenger Ed Drewett wrote on Twitter: “Stuck on the ground at Dublin due to fog at Heathrow”.
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for most of England and parts of Wales tonight, and drivers are being urged to slow down because of reduced visibility.
Dublin Airport says that the dense fog is affecting their schedule this evening and that the disruption could run into tomorrow morning.
