Wenger: If we play like that, we’ll be in title fight

Notably, Arsenal go into the match on the back of four straight league wins, a fine run of form that has put them joint top of the Premiership, behind Manchester City on goal difference alone.

Theo Walcott has picked up a calf injury that could see him out of action until December, while both Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Aaron Ramsey will be sitting this one out with hamstring problems.

Arsene Wenger’s side have endured a frustrating week after the high of hitting the head of the Premier League table last Saturday by beating Everton.

“It’s always a hard game here and last season they took six points from us”, Wenger said.

Swansea remain winless at home in the league since late August while Arsenal warm up for their crucial trip to Munich with victory.

“The second half we were a different team”, manager Arsene Wenger told reporters.

“I think after we scored the first goal it was all us and there was only one victor on the pitch”.

“I am very ambitious, I have a lot of goals but I still have many things to learn with Lyon”, he said.

Swansea had won the last two meetings between the sides and France global striker Giroud believes the initial struggle to break down their opponents could prove a key experience ahead of their European challenge.

Swansea also beat Arsenal at the Liberty in 2011/12, and held them to a 2-2 draw the season after in the same fixture.

“But I didn’t let him go because I felt he was a guy who has the quality”.

“It’s just a shame and I feel for the players because that first half was much better and more like ourselves”.

If that goal was sheer simplicity, the unmarked Giroud heading home Mesut Özil’s corner, the second was shrouded in controversy as Laurent Koscielny bundled home after 68 minutes.

“I want to continue to develop our results and the way we play football and the club as well”.

Although Swansea goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski appeared to be fouled, Wenger said: “I didn t see a foul, honestly, but maybe I have missed something”.

Wenger had made numerous changes to his team for the trip to Wales and he admitted his players took while to settle down, but once they took the lead there was only ever going to be one outcome.

The chance, however, stirred Swansea into a period of dominance and Jefferson Montero slipped Bellerin to cross to the far post where Gomis headed straight at Cech.

“But, for me, it’s all about perception and we’re on a par, if not very close, to more illustrious teams in this league on vastly superior budgets to ourselves”.
