Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic returns a ball during the singles match against Jelena Jankovic of Serbia at the All England Lawn Tennis Championships in Wimbledon, London, Saturday July 4, 2015.

As Dustin Brown slipped out in the third round, losing to 22nd seed Victor Troiki, he continued the unfortunate run of form that has befallen the conquerors of the Spanish star. Also, Monica Niculescu of Romania beat Kristyna Pliskova of the Czech Republic 6-3, 7-5.

Viktor Troicki did what Rafael Nadal couldn’t, beating Dustin Brown at Wimbledon on Saturday to advance to the fourth round.

Brown got a set back, giving hope to his vast vocal support, only to see Troicki’s greater experience tell in the fourth.

Dustin Brown’s Wimbledon has come to an end after Viktor Troicki beat the German qualifier 6-4 7-6(3) 4-6 6-3 on court three.

And his flamboyant appearance, on-court antics and entertaining array of shots have captured the imagination of Wimbledon fans as has his back story of being a journeyman tennis player, who travelled around Europe in a camper van during the early stages of his career, before making global headlines this week. John Isner, the American who won the longest tennis match in history in 2010, lost 12-10 in the fifth set to USA Open champion Marin Cilic.

In early results, No. 20 Roberto Bautista-Agut of Spain advanced to the fourth round by beating Nikoloz Basilashvili of Georgia 7-6 (4), 6-0, 6-1.

Darcis could not even make his next game, picking up a shoulder injury that ended his tournament.

Brown’s serve-and-volley game isn’t working so far against the 22nd-seeded Serb, who has been hitting flawless passing shots on several key points to go up 6-4, 7-6 (3).

However, he spurned four break-point opportunities in the first set against the more orthodox Troicki who seized on a loose drop to wrap up the set with a backhand cross-court victor.

The 102nd-ranked German drew a loud ovation as he walked on to Court 3 for this third-round match, wearing bright red headphones.

There were the blistering forehands from Brown, chiselled volleys and, of course, swinging dreadlocks, but there were also too many unforced errors from the world number 102 and Troicki was more adept than Nadal at exploiting gaps around the net.

After vanquishing Rafael Nadal in the last round, Brown served up moments of magic to delight a packed crowd but couldn’t find a way past the dogged Troicki.
