Boise State Broncos Unveil New Black-and-Orange Helmets for Halloween

Those drives from the league’s top offense drove the Bronco total to a staggering 705 yards, their highest of the season and the highest in all of Mountain West Conference play this year. Colorado State (3-5, 1-3) stayed close, trailing 13-10 at the break. He broke the Mountain West freshman passing mark of 433 yards set by San Diego State’s Ryan Lindley in 2008 against Idaho.

NOTES: Boise State entered the game leading the Mountain West Conference and ranked fifth nationally in rush defense allowing an average of 81.4 yards per game. He scored from the 1 in the first quarter and added a 64-yard run in the final quarter.

Brett Rypien’s play spoke loud and clear, as the true freshman threw for a career-best 469 yards to lead Boise State to a 55-27 win over UNLV on Saturday.

Rypien, who also caught a 4-yard touchdown pass from junior wide receiver Thomas Sperbeck for Boise State’s first touchdown of the game, completed 35-of-52 passes and was not intercepted. UNLV falls to 2-6 overall and 1-3 in league play Hawaii comes to Las Vegas on November 7th.

Boise State wasted no time in making its presence known, scoring on its first three drives. The Broncos scored on nine of their 14 possessions, including their last four. Running back Jeremy McNichols had 33 carries for 166 yards and a touchdown in the win.

Decker completed 29 of his 50 passes for 357 yards. In addition to moving the chains effectively, Boyd also provided a few explosive plays, beating the Boise State defense deep on two occasions (hauling in a 30-yard pass on one play and drawing a pass interference penalty on the other).

It seemed as though Boyd (and the rest of the Rebels’ outside-the-numbers playmakers) had been de-emphasized during Kurt Palandech’s run as the starting quarterback. In the first quarter, UNLV punted from Boise State’s 47-yard line and kicked a field goal from the 3, and then right before halftime he had his team kneel when UNLV took over at its own 32-yard line with three timeouts. The lone score for the Rainbow Warriors (2-7, 0-5) came on Keelan Ewaliko’s 98-yard kickoff return late in the game.
