The 19-year-old, from Hebron in the occupied West Bank, stabbed two people on the pavement and a third in a clothes store, a police statement said.

“The terrorist got off a bus, starting running around with a knife”, said one of the people who cornered the attacker, according to the Times of Israel. The attacker was subdued by passers-by, and police intervened before he could be attacked by the crowd that had gathered.

A few people were being treated at the scene for shock, he said.

After a couple of weeks where alleged stabbing attacks have been confined to the West Bank, with the last attack in Israel carried out on 22 October, the latest stabbing in Tel Aviv by a non-Israeli citizen will no doubt cause heightened concern for Israel’s security forces.

Bystanders surrounded him and wrestled him to the ground before cornering him in a shop as police arrived.

MDA medic Yoni Ohayon said that he saw an approximately 80-year-old woman on Herzl Street in Rishon Lezion, near a bakery, lying on the sidewalk. He was fully conscious and told us that he noticed a commotion on the bus when he suddenly felt a blow to his back. “We administered initial treatment to his stab wounds and evacuated him to Assaf Harofeh Hospital in moderate to serious but stable condition”.
