Le’Veon Bell out for season with ‘badly torn’ MCL

Dalton passed for Cincinnati’s lone touchdown with 2:57 to go as the Bengals rallied to a 16-10 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday and the best start in their history.

For the first time in its history, a franchise that for, oh, 30 years or so has alternated largely between mediocrity and putridity is 7-0.

Today’s Pittsburgh Steelers game vs the Cincinnati Bengals on CBS Sports live TV and live streaming is a huge game that could impact the AFC standings later this season. After leading most of the game, they fell apart in the closing minutes. Two of the interceptions were bad decisions; one was a forced deep ball to Brown and the other was a ball that Roethlisberger should have thrown out of bounds (it ended up giving the Bengals a go-ahead field goal late in the fourth quarter).

Dalton, the Bengals’ quarterback, threw two incomplete passes and then tried to hit Marvin Jones in the right corner of the end zone.

Sunday, for the first time all season, the Steelers had their full complement of skill-position players available. “It’s a one game at a time mind-set”.

Blake returned an interception 70 yards to help the Steelers win in San Diego.

In the third, the Steelers got on the board again with a 32-yard field goal.

“We’ve been here before, in terms of the big stage”, said Williams, who rushed for 71 yards on nine carries Sunday. And in honor of Halloween, it seemed that Bruce Arians had donned a Todd Haley disguise on the Steelers’ sideline, as Roethlisberger launched pass after pass into the teeth of a Bengals’ secondary clearly aligned to stop the long ball.

For now, Tomlin’s mistakes and Bell’s MCL tear must take a back seat to the more significant issue – Roethlisberger getting back on track, something he’s historically done in second games back after injuries.

It’s the Bengals third come from behind fourth quarter win this season, including wins against Baltimore and Seattle.

It was vintage Roethlisberger on the opening drive; 80 yards with a mix of pass and run that kept the Bengals off balance. “He’s our brother. And he’s the best back in the NFL”.

Green (11 catches, 118 yards) said the same. Defensive end Cameron Heyward said it was all about his team’s lack of finishing, lamented the injury and loss of running back Le’Veon Bell and said his team can not be counted out yet because “there is too much football to be played”.

It could be seen in his demeanor and body language – particularly in the fourth quarter – that Big Ben just wasn’t himself psychologically.

In six games this season, Bell totaled 556 rushing yards on 113 carries with three touchdowns, along with 24 receptions for 136 yards. Maybe in another week or two, when he’s further removed from a four-week absence caused by a knee injury, those passes will click. The Steelers drove to the Cincinnati 16-yard line with 4 seconds left, but Roethlisberger’s pass sailed out of the end zone to finish it. The St. Louis defense hasn’t allowed a touchdown the last two games, permitting just four field goals.

LB Rey Maualuga (calf) left the game in the first quarter and did not return.
