Palestinian baby reportedly dies after inhaling tear gas fired by Israeli

Two Palestinians allegedly tried to stab the Israeli police at a West Bank checkpoint on Friday, one of whom was shot dead while the other was wounded by Israeli fire, the police said.

In three separate instances this month, Israeli civilians shot or killed three people -an Eritrean national, an Israeli Jew, and a Palestinian citizen of Israel-and Israeli police later said the individuals were not attackers and had been targeted by “mistake”.

Later, forces shot and killed another Palestinian who the military said attempted to stab an Israeli soldier.

The tear gas was sacked as Israeli soldiers faced off against stone-throwing Palestinian youths in one of a series of clashes that swept the West Bank Friday.

Increased visitor numbers by religious Jews to Jerusalem’s al-Aqsa mosque plaza have spurred Palestinian allegations that Israel is violating a “status quo” by which Jewish prayer there is banned.

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry visited the region in an attempt to ease the ongoing violence between the Palestinians and the Israeli military and setters which escalated in the beginning of October. She rejects criticism from the worldwide community regarding the West Bank settlement policies and says she will make every effort to achieve global recognition for West Bank settlements, a move widely opposed by the worldwide community.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has repeatedly denied those claims.

The city has seen frequent clashes between Israeli forces and Palestinians protesting against the occupation. They said that Palestinian patients must be allowed to travel overseas to receive medical treatment and medical delegations should be permitted to enter Gaza.

Members from Palestinian solidarity organizations and their supporters marched to the Embassy of Israel in Buenos Aires on Friday to call for peace and to condemn the Israeli government amid a recent wave of violence between Palestinians and Israelis.

Camp resident Mohammed al-Azza said the incident unfolded at dusk on Thursday, noting an Israeli jeep shot tear gas towards residents’ homes before making the announcement via loudspeaker.

At least nine Israelis have been killed in attacks by Palestinians during the same time period.

Palestinians are also angry at increasing violence by illegal Israeli settlers, who frequently storm the al-Aqsa Mosque compound.

Also on Saturday, thousands of Palestinians joined the funeral for 5 Palestinian children killed by Israeli occupation forces in Hebron in recent weeks in apparent summary executions.

Emerging from the court at The Hague, Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki said the new dossier, the third he has submitted this year, contained evidence of “extrajudicial killing, home demolition and collective punishment”.

Hebron, a city of 200 000 Palestinians, has always been the commercial heart of the occupied West Bank.

Both Palestinians were moderately injured, she said.

The transfer of the five bodies took place Friday night at the Tarkumiyah crossing in Hebron, Ynet reported, where the Palestinian Authority held an official ceremony for their return.

Israel’s Jerusalem District Court indicted Ahmed Manasra over an alleged October 12 attack on two Israelis in East Jerusalem in which his cousin Hassan Manasra was shot dead by police.
