A Secret App ‘Indoor Survey’ Found On Apple App Store

The software is now hidden in the App Store and is not operational, suggesting that the official launch is around the corner. A “Top Charts” section has appeared in promotional photos on Apple’s website, so it’s clear the helpful section (and one that’s critical for developers) is coming; the only question is when.

For now you need special permission to use the new app, which is listed as version 1.0 and works with any device running iOS 9. A few competitors, such as Roku, have addressed this by allowing you to type in passwords on your smartphone’s keyboard in the Roku app rather than scrolling between letters on your TV screen. However the app is intended for use by a much wider group of venue owners than its previous Apple Maps Connect offering.

“The Weather Network team is dedicated to providing users with the most compelling consumer experience possible, and Apple has helped us deliver on this promise”, said Naomi Lipowski, Director TV Apps and Emerging Platforms, Pelmorex Media Inc.

The Apple TV’s performance is also vastly improved over the earlier models. So far, this is an invite-only app that is available for iOS and Android users. Indoor Survey is reportedly designed for small businesses to submit information, which is why the app isn’t visible to everyone who visits the App Store.

Bottom line: The new Apple TV shows a lot of promise.

The top 10 free apps are little more evenly balanced, with even the top 5 consisting of three streaming services: HBO Now, Fox Now, and Nat Geo TV.

Apple’s continued position as a premium brand, App Store popularity and embedded technology easing in-app payment will contribute to increased sign-ups for subscription services on the iOS platform.

Apple isn’t putting all of its eggs in one basket, though.

But while this is a bummer for the developer on the launch day of Apple TV, Greenstone isn’t giving up on Apple. I can easily imagine apps that let you choose and book seats in restaurants, for example. Also Unity’s Asset Bundles can facilitate the implementation of Apple’s On-Demand Resources, which will make it easier for releasing on Apple TV.

The upside to this app is that you know that person is down to hanging out, as opposed to cold calling your friends where they might be busy or if they might have already had their lunch.
