Covered California set to begin open enrollment
Covered California’s Executive Director Peter Lee said that’s down from more than 5 million people two years ago.

The ads “aim to motivate the uninsured to explore their options with Covered California”, according to exchange spokesperson James Scullery.
Open enrollment for health insurance through Covered California starts this Sunday, and the state exchange is going on the road to make sure you sign up.
At Borrego Health Center in El Cajon, staff members were preparing to help people enroll in a health insurance plan starting next week.
About 1,300,000 people are enrolled for health insurance through the Covered California marketplace, and half of those people pay less than $100 a month, officials said.
The new ad campaign stresses the importance of having health insurance for the unexpected. According to “Bay Area BizTalk”, the TV ads will be aired in Cantonese, English, Korean, Mandarin, Spanish and Vietnamese.
The ads can be found online at https://vimeo.com/coveredcalifornia. An estimated 2.2 million uninsured Californians are eligible to get financial help to make their insurance affordable by enrolling in Covered California or Medi-Cal.
Californians can sign-up during Covered California’s open enrollment period, which lasts through January 31.

Lee said the “Spotlight on Coverage” bus tour will continue through November 12, with 38 stops planned at hospitals, community clinics, enrollment locations and storefronts from San Diego to Eureka. Covered California has 1.3 million consumers, about 90% of whom receive subsidies to help cover their premiums.
