Honda still updates slow selling CR-Z hybrid for 2016 model year
On the inside, the 2016MY CR-Z gains new brushed metallic trims on the door handles, front paneling and center console, while the fitment of a new standard electric parking brake (EPB) discards the traditional parking brake lever making space for a new lower center console between the seats that incorporates an armrest and a storage compartment.

New standard equipment on all 2016 Honda CR-Z models includes push-button start and Honda’s 7-inch DisplayAudio touchscreen infotainment system. There’s a new range-topping EX-L Navi trim that comes with heated and leather seats featuring a contrasting stitch pattern.
New accessories include LED fog lights with blue accents and a fuel-tank lid garnish. The combined power sits at 130 bhp (97 kW) and 140 lb-ft (190 Nm) or 127 lb-ft (172 Nm) with the optional CVT.
The Honda CR-Z hybrid hatchback was originally introduced for the 2011 model year, and at the time it was hoped the auto would change the perception that hybrids can’t be fun with its sporty looks and available manual transmission.
The 2016 Honda CR-Z is available in LX, EX and EX-L trims.
The 2016 CR-Z hits U.S. dealers starting Tuesday wearing a base price of $20,295 plus $895 for delivery. The CR-Z EX is $22,975 with a manual and $23,625, and the CR-Z EX-L tops out at $25,275 or $25,925, depending on transmission.
The CR-Z’s sportier look starts with a new grille. The sweeping upper dashboard shape creates a wraparound cockpit environment. Other interior features include Pandora® compatibility, Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink®, automatic climate control and cruise control. Sadly, no change has been made to the hybrid system on this 2016 CR-Z, which means it still consists of a 1.5-liter four-cylinder and Honda’s Integrated Motor Assist system with a DC brushless electric motor.
Honda’s exclusive Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure helps protect occupants in a frontal collision.
