After meeting with the state’s attorney last week, family lawyer Benjamin Crump said Raja, who is of South Asian descent, had told authorities he never identified himself to Jones as a police officer.

The service for Corey Jones took place at Payne Chapel AME and included guests Rev. Al Sharpton and Apostle Sharon D. Walker as eulogy speakers.

He also spoke out against the latest increase in police shooting deaths. The top prosecutor in the investigation said earlier this week that Jones didn’t fire any shots from his gun.

The funeral of Corey Jones will be held today at noon at the Payne Chapel AME of West Palm Beach at 801 9th St. Sharpton said Jones didn’t commit a crime and did everything right. According to Reuters, family members are also angry at local law enforcement officials who have been slow to release information about the incident which happened on October 18.

“Corey was a prince – he was special”, he said.

“This man is truly great and I dream we will see him not just in the headlines, but in the history books”, the bandmate said. “My brother would’ve laid on the ground”, Jones” brother CJ Jones said during the funeral.

The state attorney’s office, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, and the FBI are investigating the shooting. He has since been placed on administrative leave with pay.
