Spectre smashes United Kingdom box office records

Filmed at a cost of $250 million with millions more spent on marketing, Spectre needs to be a box office giant in order to be profitable. 007’s £41.7 million haul beats the £23.8 million Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban nabbed over its seven-day opening in 2004.

Daniel Craig’s fourth film in the franchise also broke United Kingdom records for Tuesday and Wednesday takings.

The $105,000 per-screen average from 47 IMAX screens of “Spectre” was the highest ever for an opening weekend, topping the $760,000 of “Transformers Dark of the Moon” managed in 2011.

Bond’s next big challenge will be America, where he lands on November 6 and looks set to rule the charts there. “I think the world needs James Bond”, he reasoned.

The Japanese company would have paid $4 million for a placement fee directly to Barbara, while Ben Whishaw would have taken $1 million.

The latest James Bond film Spectre has set a new British box office record, taking more than £40m in its first week. No doubt the earnings will be welcomed by the studio since Spectre has a 200 million pounds budget.

The news comes shortly after Spectre star Daniel Craig admitted he’d love to work with Sam Mendes again in the future, although he stopped short of confirming he’ll return to the role of James Bond. “In a lot of ways, making the films is like what James experiences in Spectre: You’re put through your paces, but the result is tremendously exciting”. Jurez says that by participating in the deal, Sony Pictures and Spectre filmmakers have brushed Mexico’s problems under the rug, robbing the citizens of much needed resources and services.

The move has angered local activists, who are calling on the Mexican government to justify why they spent tens of millions of taxpayers dollars on sweeping the country’s problems “under the carpet”. Unlike his other two films, “Quantum of Solace” reduces the character of 007 to an action hero just like the ones we see in countless other boring films 12 times a year.
