Trump, John Oliver’s ‘Last Week Tonight’ in back-and-forth feud

To that end, Oliver does not like being labeled “disruptive” or a “journalist”, saying, “Obviously I’m a comedian”.

E! notes that the Trump camp had not responded yet to Oliver’s tweet. “He has an uncommon ability to make the people of China stop what they’re doing, and go home to relax”, the host said (via Wall Street Journal).

“I ignore all of that, so the ripple effect after the show has nothing to do with us”, Oliver said. Trump’s words about Megyn Kelly and Carly Fiorina unveiled what many alleged to be his misogynistic side.

In response, Trump took to his official social media account to fire back at the HBO talk show host’s remarks in a very “Donald-Trump” way. “At no point did we invite Donald Trump to appear on” the show, the post adds.

Another area in which the two parties agree: Neither wants Trump on the show. When he was asked if he would have Trump on his show, Oliver said absolutely not. He said that Trump has no internal monologue which would reveal anything to the world that it doesn’t already know. “He’s said everything he wants to say”.

All of that is why it was so odd when yesterday, Trump claimed that Oliver did invite him on the show. Oliver then brings out Kenny G, “the future victor of the Noble Peace Prize”, to deliver his “Going Home”.

“I don’t really care about him in any capacity”, Oliver told CBS’s This Morning.
