Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) Offers Surprising Discount on Apple Watch

According to media reports, Samsung has already received the contract for providing OLED displays for the Apple Watch, while Apple considers whether to have OLED display or conventional LCD ones in its upcoming iPhone 7.

Apple’s first smartwatch has recently been expanding its presence in retail stores. The cheapest model costs $349 and options can quickly add hundreds of dollars to the price tag. Although tipped to handle submersion at a metre down for 30 minutes, third-party tests have shown the Apple Watch is capable of withstanding 40 metres of depth for the same amount of time. Since the release of the Apple Watch, Apple has been questioned repeatedly about how well the product is selling, but has avoided the release of sales information thus far.

No matter. The revenue figures Apple is disclosing do hint at what sort of growth the Apple Watch is seeing in terms of sales. Pairing the iPhone and Watch is a natural bundle and points to how well they work together.

The Apple Watch didn’t launch until April 24th, meaning it was only available for just over five months of Apple’s fiscal 2015, which concluded on September 26th.

Apple insists the Watch is doing well, though it isn’t providing any numbers to back up those claims. Cook reported in July that primary sales of the Apple Watch to customers surpassed the unit sales of the first iPhone and iPad in their comparable roll out periods. Reports suggest Apple wants to use the technology in later handsets, and will look to bundle LTE technology on the same chip as everything else. The productivity-focused slate is expected to land on November 11, along with the Smart Keyboard and Apple Pencil accessories. (JDI). Apple reportedly invested $1.4 billion in JDI to build its screens, though the plant is only allowed to start production in 2015. Perhaps the positive reviews from Watch users have prompted the company to take it to its flagship product.
