Paul Ryan’s comments about becoming House speaker show his strengths
“We do not want to have a society where we have different classes of people who can not reach their American dream by being a full citizen”.

“I don’t think people asked me to be Speaker so I can take more money from hardworking taxpayers to create a few new federal entitlement”.
His first test will be the long-term, expensive highway bill, which is due for a vote in the House this week.
“It’s a little hard for him to make the claim that somehow the president hasn’t acted in good faith on immigration when Speaker Ryan actively thwarted a compromise he himself helped to broker”, Earnest said on Monday. “We’ve been too timid on policy; we’ve been too timid on vision – we have none”.
“We’re going to go on offense on ideas and give the country a bold conservative agenda, because we don’t think the country’s heading in the right direction right now”, Ryan said. At the time, he said that spending cuts would make that arm of the military the strongest it has been since before World War I. No. 3, we have to be a more effective opposition party.
“I very much believe we need a bigger Navy, big time”, Ryan said in an interview for the “Hugh Hewitt Show.” Saying he needs to “clean up the barn” before he turns the gavel over to Rep. Paul Ryan, a Wisconsin Republican, Mr. Boehner has made a budget deal with President Obama that will forestall any threat of a government shutdown or debt default until after a new president takes office in 2017.
Illegal immigration is one of the main issues on which Ryan will have to unify Republicans.
“We have a president that isn’t willing to listen, that isn’t going to sign lots of our bills into law”, Paul Ryan said this weekend. They continue to be the only obstacle to passing a common sense immigration reform bill through Congress, and as a result, millions of families are living in fear or facing deportation.
As the party has moved to the right and moderates have been purged, the GOP’s policy differences have grown smaller and smaller. He said that if Republicans win the White House and retain Congress in 2016, they will be able to show the public how they will fix the nation’s pressing problems.
A minute earlier, the hawkish senator had said that Obama’s Syrian policy was the “worst possible outcome” and warned of another major terror attack on USA soil because of Obama’s lack of commitment to the region.
Ryan has been under pressure from conservative lawmakers demanding assurances from him on the issue, even as Gutierrez and other activists have criticized him for offering such promises.
That committee is nearly always stacked with speaker loyalists, in this case, numerous members who were loyal to Boehner are now loyal to Ryan.

“On issues such as border enforcement and interior enforcement, where I think we all have consensus, I think that would be fine if we can advance that”. Rand Paul has also criticized current proposals-including from Democratic presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders-as unrealistic because, as he told me about fully subsidizing in-state college tuition, expanded government programs “can’t be free, somebody has to pay for it”. And I think in the long run will be committed to the issue.
