Johnny Manziel replaces Josh McCown vs. Cardinals

The title of the book would be the same for the Browns in 2015 as it was for those 1962 Mets and for the Browns in 1999: “Can’t Anybody Here Play This Game?”.

The Browns loss to the Cardinals moves them to 2-6 on the season.

The Bengals are 7-0 for the first time and have a comfortable lead in their division.

“He said, ‘You’re either pretenders or you’re contenders and it’s up to you to pretty much show who you are in the second half, ‘ Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald said”.

The Browns (2-6) were dominated in the second half and fell 34-20 at FirstEnergy Stadium, losing their third consecutive game.

Cleveland Browns scored 21.0 points compared to allowed 26.0 points with point differential of -5.0. We’ll know a lot more when we get into tomorrow and into Wednesday. “You like to live in explosive plays”.

For the second straight week, the Browns will play the waiting game with McCown to see if he will be healthy enough to start a game. “It’s going to be one heck of a game”. “They could hang 40 on you if they so choose to”. Cornerback Joe Haden and strong safety Donte Whitner also suffered concussions in the third quarter. We’re in a position where we feel pretty good about our roster. I’m not going to sit here and rule them out as we speak but they are in the protocol. We have to find a way to find a few answers and win a few of these games. They only had two divisional games over the course of the first two months.

For Haden, it’s his second concussion in three weeks.

When they got to the locker room at halftime, the Cardinals were bracing themselves for the wrath of Arians.

If the trend continues against Arizona, it will be a long day.

Matt Ryan tied the game for the Falcons (6-2) on an 8-yard pass to Julio Jones with 17 seconds left in regulation. “I hope this is my home, and I don’t know where those came from”. I think you answered the question: we’re not at that point.

DeFilippo said the scheme promotes turnovers. Defensively, Cleveland is allowing 27 points and 405.4 yards per game. The Browns don’t have the same ability. Karlos Dansby leads the Browns with 61 tackles, Armonty Bryant has 3.5 sacks and Tramon Williams has five pass deflections. But Gipson believes the opportunities will be there against a Cardinals team not afraid to take a risk. Contrast that with Denver’s Peyton Manning, who has zero fumbles on the season.

“That’s the best-called game since junior, Pop Warner pee-wee football when I was playing for the Mission Viejo Cowboys and you’re only getting cover”, Palmer said.

Josh McCown’s right shoulder looks fine. Quarterback Carson Palmer threw 20 touchdowns over the first eight games against just six interceptions. Offensively we started making plays. Veteran quarterbacks are not supposed to play their best football at the latter stages, yet Palmer is performing at an elite level as a 13th-year pro coming off his second ACL injury.

“I think that last week, we as an offensive line didn’t block as well as our expectations are and we got Josh hit too much”, left tackle Joe Thomas said. He has yet to catch a pass in his first season with Cleveland. On one of the runs, Turbin managed to fumble, allowing the Cardinals to tack on a field goal and increase the lead to 14 in the fourth quarter.

The soon to be 7-1 Bengals, am I right? “We’re just not ready to say we’re at that point yet”.

“That is a tough-minded group, a competitive group”, Pettine said.

On third-and-2 at the Browns’ 42, running back Duke Johnson lined up in the slot, caught a short pass from McCown and stiff-armed two defenders en route to a 52-yard gain.

“Didn’t affect me – just discomfort”, McCown said.
