Dan Carter hailed as rugby union’s world player of the year
Carter was named man of the match in his first World Cup final, helping the All Blacks retain the title after missing out on the 2011 final due to injury.

Inspired by their veterans, the All Blacks beat Australia 34-17 in front of a full house of 80,125 at Twickenham to stretch their record to 49 wins, three defeats and two draws since Richie McCaw last lifted the Webb Ellis Cup four years ago in Auckland.
Macqueen had a year longer than Cheika, but still only had half a World Cup cycle to prepare the Wallabies team that ultimately won the 1999 tournament, after he replaced Greg Smith in September 1997.
He heads to French rugby for a three-year stint at Racing Metro in Paris, where he will not be in contention to play for New Zealand.
“I’m signed until ’17 and I’m going to do everything I can to make sure the team does well in its play and how we represent the game in Australia between now and then”.
The newly-appointed Henry hand-picked Hansen and Wayne Smith as his assistants in the wake of New Zealand’s 2003 World Cup semi-final exit.
It has been a good night for the All Blacks – they were named team of the year and Julian Savea’s blockbusting try against France at the Rugby World Cup has been named the try of the year.
“He says he shouldn’t do that while he is a playing player”.
“I’m not a big rugby historian but I’ve played against these guys a lot and every time you play them it’s tough”, Wallabies captain Stephen Moore said.
There is little doubt that the All Blacks side who made history by defending their World Cup crown at Twickenham on Saturday now stand alongside other true greats of sport such as the Brazil football team of 1970 and the West Indies cricketers of the 1970s and 1980s. “That’s what we’re striving to do, and over the next two years I want to make it better than it is now”. “Go New Zealand, go New Zealand”, added another fan.
The Australia coach Michael Cheika received the coach of the year bauble after transforming the Wallabies in his 12 months at the helm.
Carter wins World Rugby Player of the Year awardBy Filipe Naikaso Monday 02/11/2015All Blacks fly half Dan Carter with his Player of the Year award during the World Rugby awards in London. This time it was an opportunity that we really wanted to take and rather than a huge sense of relief it was a sense of satisfaction at having got the job done.

But yesterday he found he was the subject of criticism copping ridicule and condemnation online from many All Blacks supporters who saw the irony of Rattue’s comments against Carter’s performance.
