A person with direct knowledge of the discussions tells The Associated Press that Garnett has agreed to terms on a two-year contract to remain in Minnesota.

When the Minnesota Timberwolves re-acquired forward Kevin Garnett last season in a trade with the Brooklyn Nets, it was widely expected that Garnett would finish the season where he began his career and then retire this offseason.
The 21-year pro will reportedly sign a two-year deal with the same team that drafted him out of Farragut High School in 1995.
Garnett will join Robert Parish and Kevin Willis as the only player to play 21 National Basteball Association seasons. The 2004 league MVP would play past his 40th birthday if he sees out both years of the contract.
The Timberolves also signed guard Tyus Jones, the 24th overall selection from Duke University.
Towns’ three-year contract is worth just over $14.9 million, according to RealGM.com, and it includes a fourth-year option.
The 6-11, 220-pound-center played for the Timberwolves from 1995 to 2007, when he was traded to the Boston Celtics.
More than his on-court presence, Garnett is an important locker room leader for a number of top picks on the Minnesota roster, including 2015 top pick Karl-Anthony Towns, 2014 No. 1 Andrew Wiggins and 2013 No. 1 Anthony Bennett.
