Authorities search home of Subway pitchman Jared Fogle | Local News – WDSU

What makes the raid on Fogle’s home particularly disturbing is that it comes almost two months after the ex- executive director of his non-profit foundation was arrested on federal child pornography charges.

As you’re probably aware, the FBI raided Jared Fogle’s home on Tuesday for an investigation that could be linked to child pornography.

Fogle’s history with Subway reaches back to when he was a student at Indiana University, and he said he lost 245 pounds by regularly eating the chain’s sandwiches.

Subway is beginning to distance itself from pitchman Jared Fogle in the wake of an FBI child pornography investigation that has extended to involve the famous face of the company.

In April, Russell Taylor was arrested for three counts of possession of child pornography, three counts of child exploitation and three counts of voyeurism.

Taylor’s attorney, Brad Banks, said Tuesday his client was briefly hospitalized after the allegations surfaced but is now in federal custody. Taylor, 43, attempted suicide on May 6 at the Marion County Jail, was placed on life support.

Officials from the FBI and USA Attorney’s Office would not confirm the nature of the investigation into the famed spokesperson.

The sandwich chain said Tuesday that it was parting ways with Fogle.

An attorney for Fogle said Fogle has not been arrested on any charge and is cooperating with investigators.

Well, it seems as though Subway doesn’t have too much faith in their spokesperson not being into kids, because they’ve completely removed Jared from their website! “Weird seeing it going on”, said Jacob Schrader speaking to a WTTV reporter.

Privately held Subway doesn’t report results to Wall Street, but it posted an estimated $24.5 billion in sales for 2014, according to the National Retail Federation, citing research from Kantar Retail.

However, Milford, Conn.-based Subway only said initially that it was monitoring the situation closely, and even kept a highly inappropriate web site game called “Jared’s trousers Dance” on subwaykids.com most of the day.

One of Fogle’s neighbors said she was shocked when investigators showed up in the neighborhood. So I’m shocked and upset of course and saddened. In a New York Daily News feature on him, it says that his role with Subway is the only job he’s ever known.

Fogle founded the Jared Foundation in 2004 with the aim of educating children and parents on proper nutrition and exercise and combating childhood obesity.
