It seems that the new update comes with a new HD Graphics 520 driver update (version 20.19.15.4308), which addresses a few display problems.

Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book – New Firmware Update: What’s New?

The Surface Book is Microsoft’s first laptop in history, and the company really struggled to do it right, trying to offer the best hardware you can get at this moment.

At the same time, the display audio driver update was updated with the new version 8.20.0.659 that is compatible with the updated graphics driver.

Even though repairability might be an issue with the Surface Book, Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) is fast regaining its tech tempo. Packed in there along side the the RAM and the battery and the processors and the rest of the guts, is the Surface Book’s special “Muscle Wire Lock” which connects the screen/tablet part to the keyboard when the device is in laptop mode.

According to a user on the Microsoft Answers forum, there was a huge difference in the standby time of his Surface Pro 4 with the Windows Hello feature turned on, which provided only five hours of connected standby, while turning off the feature increased the device’s standby time to 87 hours.

What’s interesting about the Microsoft trade-in deal, however, is that they don’t ask you about the condition (which in the case of this device is probably “good” not “like new” as I really used it): Microsoft just expects it to be acceptable, with no cracks, dead pixels or other obvious blemishes.

Since the release of the two Surface devices, there were owners who have had complaints on their devices because of display issues.

Bugs are not untypical for new products. For example, top dollar is available for the Core i7 Surface Pro 3 256GB. The Surface Book starts selling at $1,499. Based on the fixes included, this is a must-install update.
