Rod Smith, Gary Kubiak give emotional speeches to Denver Broncos
Bowlen, who stepped down from his daily duties two summers ago as he battled Alzheimer’s, is being inducted into the Broncos’ ring of fame at halftime Sunday night, November 1, 2015.

Not only is the team inducting Pat Bowlen into the team’s Ring of Fame, but they are also naming their recently constructed field house after the legendary owner. Annabel Bowlen also presented the Broncos’ Ring of Fame inductees previous year, which included former head coach Dan Reeves, receiver/punt returner Rick Unchurch, and original kicker/end wide receiver Gene Mingo. Annabel Bowlen gave a few brief remarks and said; “I am so humbled to accept this honor for my husband Pat….”
It has fans remembering how Bowlen’s built the team over the years.
In Bowlen’s tenure the Broncos have had more Super Bowl appearances (six) than losing seasons (five) and has won 12 AFC West titles, including the last four in a row.
Bronco fans themselves have a long memory of Pat Bowlen, remembering the good with the bad. Manning vs. Rodgers, great defense vs. great offense, rematch of a classic super bowl match up.
To say that Bowlen’s impact on the team is enormous would be a gross understatement.
Since then, it’s rare to see Pat Bowlen at the Broncos’ headquarters.
Ellis said Bowlen wasn’t only devoted to his Broncos but the National Football League, “and the testimony to that is all the committees he served on and the sounding boards (he was) for the commissioners he worked under”.
The induction will take place during the Broncos’ game against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night. This is an opportunity for the Denver Broncos to prove the team is a contender – that the team is worthy of a 6-0 record.
Not only was Bowlen deserving of the Ring of Fame honor, but the argument could be made that he should be a real candidate for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
“I love that man”, Terrell Davis said.

Ownership of the franchise is held in a trust Bowlen set up more than a decade ago in hopes that one of his seven children will one day run the team.
