Pelicans Plucked, Warriors Win Opener

It’s a long season, but it’s obviously a good start.

Months and months. Great months.

Curry and the Warriors raised the championship banner and received their rings in an elaborate pregame ceremony featuring glitz, glow sticks and fire.

Yes, everybody in that story lived happily ever after. Lastly, each of the players’ rings has four fluorescent diamonds inserted in them that are only visible under black light. The season was concluded with Warriors besting all of the other teams and with Curry being declared as the season’s MVP.

And hoped they were starting another incredible journey, though – as with all new tales – a few new and tricky plot lines emerged.

New Orleans momentarily took the lead with five minutes left in the half, Warriors reserves stalling out and going scoreless for three minutes. I said you have to be lucky to win… Needless to say, Curry is arguably one of the best shooters in the National Basketball Association today.

“I told the guys, “We’re not going to use injuries as an excuse”, he said.

The Dubs then went on to trounce the visiting New Orleans Pelicans 111-95. Of the starters, Bogut missed the most games, sitting out 15. It was his 10th career 40-point game.

From that point on, it was Curry’s show.

As he tends to do.

The Pistons had a 59-40 edge on the boards.

Yes, a few of the national downgrading of the Warriors this offseason was a general slighting of Curry’s status on the superstar spectrum.

“I think he’s getting better”. They shot 42.7 percent from the field with nine three-pointers, and also tallied seven steals and eight blocks for the entire match. He finished with seven assists and six rebounds.

Bogut, already wearing a protective brace for a broken nose, received stitches for a laceration above his right eye.

The NBA.com revealed that the Warriors had a defensive rating of 95.2 when Bogut was playing, which is five points more than when Bogut is rding the bench. But it’s not the same team without him. He didn’t return to the game after that.

On the pain of not coaching his team, Kerr said, “It’s killing me”. I’m very confident I’ll be back this season.

Despite the notion that a jump-shooting team can’t win a championship (which Warriors’ fans didn’t let Charles Barkley forget with this t-shirt seen in Oracle), the Warriors ran through the Pelicans, the Memphis Grizzlies, the Houston Rockets, and the Cleveland Cavaliers to be the last team standing.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope scored 21 points for the Pistons, who finished 28 games behind the Hawks last season, but began to pull away just before halftime.

We don’t quite know yet if it’s a sequel, though.
