Alternatively when the driver selects Manual Drive, the interior transforms to put the driver in control. and all seats face forward.
The IDS Concept’s driving modes of autonomous “Piloted Drive” and driver-controlled “Manual Drive” use two distinct interior configurations depending on which drive mode is enabled.
According to Nissan the electric drivetrain elements have also advanced – a high-capacity 60 kWh battery, optimized aerodynamics, a low stance, flowing form and reduced of the full-carbon-fibre body will allow the vehicle to drive long distances.
Three cars have already been upgraded with the new technology, called Nissan Intelligent Driving.
“Getting to this point will, of course, require the further evolution of batteries, but aerodynamic performance is also very important”.
Nissan says this is the future of where their cars specifically and cars in general are going-electric and autonomous, zero emissions and zero fatalities.
In Manual Drive mode, the driver has control with the linear acceleration and cornering described as “pure and exhilarating”.
Part of that communication is a band of LED lights along both sides of the auto that light up when a pedestrian, bicyclist or other motorist is detected nearby. In the event of imminent danger, Nissan IDS Concept will assist the driver in taking evasive action. Another electronic display facing outward on the windshield near the instrument panel give signals such as “after you” to pedestrians. Nissan says it will be like relaxing in a living room. The IDS AI improves the driver’s ability to see, think and react, and the AI compensates for human error, which is 90 percent of the time is the cause of road accidents. For now, Google, Tesla, and the like are promoting self-driving vehicles as safer and more efficient. All four seats rotate slightly inward, facilitating easier conversation between passengers.
