He said previously: “I’ve got the ghost of Louis everywhere at the moment”.
The veteran X Factor judge also gave his advice to Simon on how to boost the falling viewing figures, saying at an event in London last night: “You’ve made too many changes”.
Speaking to the publication at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel, Walsh – who was a judge on the ITV talent show for a decade before being replaced by Nick Grimshaw – said he was enjoying watching the TV show at home. “Simon, you may not have tact but you certainly have talent”.
“I’d never met a man so camp and English in my life…”
Meanwhile, X Factor U.K.co-host Murs told reporters on the red carpet that “telling people that they are not getting through” is the hardest challenge for him.
One Direction, who were discovered by Cowell and his fellow judges on The X Factor in 2010 and subsequently signed to his Syco music label, were on hand to salute their longtime mentor with the prize.
Walsh was axed from the X Factor for this year’s series, but is clearly keen to be back. It produces the X Factor and Got Talent formats, among other things.
Cowell’s TV production and music publishing house Syco, a joint venture with Sony Music, has signed artists including Little Mix, Susan Boyle, Ella Henderson, Fifth Harmony and Collabro.
