Pitbull who disappeared in Texas floods found 2000 miles away
Police in Crescent City, Calif., in September found the dog wandering and dropped the animal off at a shelter.

– A dog that was separated from his owners during flooding in Texas this past spring has turned up safe more than 2,000 miles away.
But thankfully, a long-haul trucker volunteered to drive the dog home.
Thor’s owner says he ran away while the family was abandoning their house when central Texas was hit by storms over Memorial Day weekend. A witness reportedly saw the pit bull hopping out of the back of a pickup truck, leaving authorities unsure whether Thor had jumped out of the truck without the driver’s knowledge or was simply abandoned.
Justin Riggs, director of the shelter, told NBC News that someone probably drove Thor to California.
Thor’s owner, Eddie Hurtado, said he was forced to leave the 16-year-old pit bull behind with two other dogs while evacuating in May from severe flooding in the San Marcos area, according to KIEM-TV.
The Hurtado family, who are still repairing the damage to their home caused by the flood, were initially unable to afford the $1,500 it would cost to ship Thor back, CBS Dallas Fort Worth reported.

“Certainly after everything they’ve been through”, Riggs said, “the least we can do is keep him safe here”.
