Tony Romo (collarbone, I.R./recall) participated in individual drills and “pat and go” work at Wednesday’s practice. Romo is on IR which mean he can’t return until the November 22nd game when the Cowboys play the Miami Dolphins.

And with Tuesday’s news that the Cowboys released the team’s week one starting running back Joseph Randle after multiple off field issues, the thought of missing out on Johnson stings a bit more.
Dallas doesn’t want to rush Romo back and, quite simply, the team isn’t allowed to play him for another two weeks. The Cowboys are in big trouble either way.
Wednesday was the first time Romo was eligible to practice since being placed on the injured reserve/designated to return list.
After Matt Cassel only threw for 97 passing yards against the Seahawks, it’s clear the Cowboys offense is abysmal right now. The Cowboys have been without their two best playmakers on offense in Tony Romo and Dez Bryant and during that stretch the Cowboys have lost five consecutive games and now find themselves in last place in the NFC East. He has gone 0-2. Players make mistakes. a few of them you know about, and a few of them you don’t know about.
“Those guys on the other side are pretty good, too, and so when you have to go the full length of the field, and you’re not able to get that chunk play, a lot of times it becomes a lot more hard”. Otherwise, they’ve had second-half leads in all four games – and critical letdowns at key points from all three phases of the game.

Also, teams like the Green Bay Packers and New England Patriots regularly draft quarterbacks – sometimes even in the second round – despite now having two of the greatest in history.

Now is the time for Romo to take this opportunity by the horns and make the legacy that he has always coveted in Dallas. Because you can’t solve the problem of who your backup is when you actually need one.
