Hazel Abel was stuffed into the trunk of her auto and then her kidnappers drove the vehicle to Woodvillage, Ore., and stopped at a Walmart.

Martin told police Underwood had planned to kill the woman, put her body in the trunk and set the auto on fire, the affidavit states.
The girl told investigators that they wanted to run away to Portland and that it was Martin’s idea to use his great-grandmother’s auto, the affidavit said. The store gave her new clothes and food while she was there, he said.
She said she was led to her own auto in the attached garage and put in the trunk.
The district attorney’s juvenile unit is handling the case of the third teen – a 14-year-old girl.
Kidnapping is a Measure 11 offense and they will be charged as adults.
She then got out and yelled for help. After being left alone in the Walmart parking lot, Abel said she was able to escape and call the police.
Once the teens, two boys and a girl ages 14, 15, and 16, stopped at a store in Portland’s Multnomah County, Abel managed to unlock the boot from the inside and run for help, McCary said. Abel told deputies she had been taken from her home in Kennewick and locked in the trunk of her vehicle.
Later, when they stopped at the Walmart in Wood Village to buy toiletries, they came out and saw Abel standing outside the auto talking to a Walmart employee.
One of the Multnomah County sheriff’s deputies who responded looked at Walmart’s surveillance tapes and then began driving around the area looking for the teenagers.
His family said he’s a good boy deep down but ever since he moved to Kennewick he’s been hanging out with runaways.
The Benton County Sheriff’s Office said the victim was taken from her house in the 5300 block of West Skagit Avenue sometime on Monday.

Court documents from Multnomah County revealed Abel answered a knock at her door at that time.
