Vernon Davis has harsh words for 49ers
The former San Francisco 49ers tight end chatted with Broncos media, and naturally he got questions about his time in San Francisco.

The Niners were the only pro team Davis knew.
“Oh man, he is mismatch”.
Prices usually go down as game day approaches, said StubHub Communications Manager Cameron Papp. So he’s not going to be staring out there at us.
“We had to go up against him in training camp”. The mismatches that he provides against safeties and linebackers is tremendous. From what we found out spending a few time with the players, that’s not going to happen this year.
“The clock was running out on me”. He came up, stopped on a dime.
“Guys, I don’t. I see the big arm, being able to make plays moving around”. You can tell he doesn’t trust his pocket on most downs and watching tape from the Broncos-Packers game will not make him feel good about his chances anyway. “I said, ‘Really?’ I was kind of excited at the same time”. For the first time since his rookie season, Manning is on pace to throw more than 25 interceptions in a season. I think it’s your teammates, being loyal to your teammates.
“We still think he’s got a lot of football left in him – not only this year – whether it’s here or somewhere else”. Just hammer away, because if you don’t, you’re going to be stubbing your toe on the floor with the nail coming out.
Davis is leaving a sinking ship in San Fransisco. The Broncos limited the three teams to 47 points and an average of 258.3 yards per game. Since snaring 13 touchdown catches in 2013, he’s only scored twice in the past 20 games.
Doesn’t seem like it will be a major storyline this week, but the Broncos last loss… to the Colts in the divisional round of last season’s playoffs.
The 49ers have lost six of their last seven games.
OK, that’s not verbatim, but Davis attributed his decline in production to issues with his ex-team. “Somebody else asked me that, Why would I be ticked?”
“Look at the year when I started to drop off, and what happened with the team”, Davis said, according to the Denver Post. They started to fall all in.
Irsay later insisted what he meant was if the Colts, instead of asking the quarterback to do too much, had only given Manning better special teams and defense, they could have won more than one Super Bowl ring together. No one really excelled, no one really had success. No one really had success. There is something nearly perverse about his insistence on continuing to play at this point; he is smart enough and charming enough and successful enough that you might argue pro football needs him at this point more than he could ever need pro football. “If the team doesn’t have success, I’m not going to have success”. That’s what it is. Look at them now. He played great those two games.
“We’re just trying to go out there and be a championship team, that’s it”, said Derek Wolfe, who earned Denver’s defensive player of the game honors for his role in the Broncos’ 29-10 shellacking of the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night.
Davis’ biggest attribute that everyone, from Elway to Marshall, has focused on is his speed. The trade for Davis certainly addressed that. -Broncos CB Chris Harris Jr. vs. Colts WR T.Y. Hilton.

The result was a ground game that produced a season-high 160 yards and three touchdowns and a tight end corps that racked up 105 yards to go with Demaryius Thomas’ season-best 168 yards.
