The elder Hernandez faces charges in Jefferson County, Ala. connected to the abduction.

Authorities confirmed his identity in Cleveland on Monday. He is being held in Cuyahoga County on a $255,000 bond.

Falls said a school counselor worked with Julian Hernandez to determine the reason, and that is when they found out that he was on the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children database.

He is now charged with tampering with records.

The child was 5 years old when he disappeared from Vestavia Hills, Alabama, in 2002 – and it was suspected then that the child’s father, who did not have legal custody, may have taken the boy, Vestavia Hills police said. Frolik said it stems from Hernandez giving false information to the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles in 2012 in order to get a driver’s license.

“He’s (Bobby) been here three to five years… he’s a pretty cool guy”, Matt MeInyk, the Hernandez’s neighbor, told WKYC’s Wale Aliyu.

Hernandez was reported missing by his mother back in 2002. “I had absolutely no idea this was happening”. Special Agent Vicki Anderson of the FBI’s Cleveland, Ohio Division said that this search is what led to them receiving information that the missng child was in Cleveland, this was on October 30 and it was after this that the different agencies joined together to identiry Julian.

Hernandez will face further and more serious charges in Jefferson County, Alabama for the abduction from 2002. An investigation ensued by members of the FBI’s Violent Crime Task Force joining the ongoing efforts of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, the Vestavia Hills Police Department and the Birmingham Division of the FBI regarding missing child Julian Hernandez.
