Primetime Ratings: ‘Supergirl’ Falls Back to Earth
NBC’s The Voice had 11.9 million viewers overall, good for a 3.2 in adults 18-49, up 3% from last week. Fifth and finally, the tale of Superman’s cousin still managed to match 10 PM’s Blindspot (2.2/7), which was up 5%, as the top scripted show of the night.

Without “The Big Bang Theory” as a lead-in – and with significantly less hype for Episode 2 – “Supergirl” sunk 31 percent in the key 18-49 demographic versus last week’s fast national rating, and 33 percent in rounded total viewers.
During the fall, Big Bang Theory had averaged 15.8 million viewers and a 4.1 rating in the 18-49 demo in CBS’ Monday, 8 p.m. time slot. It remained No. 1 in total viewers in Live+3 estimates (surpassing 16 million), yet wound up in the number 2 slot among premieres in the demos behind NBC’s “Blindspot”.
ESPN won the night with “Monday Night Football”, as its matchup between the Indianapolis Colts and Carolina Panthers averaged a 4.6 rating in adults 18-49 and 12.40 million viewers overall, up a little in both categories from previous year.
“Supergirl” was followed last night on CBS by “Scorpion” (1.9/5 in 18-49, 9.4 million viewers overall), which matched last week’s 90-minute average and seems to be benefiting from its drama lead-in. “NCIS: Los Angeles” closed out the night with a 1.3/4 in 18-49 and 8.41 million viewers overall, tying its season high in the demo.
Supergirl airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on CBS. Secondly, The Voice (3.2/9) had superstar Rhinna for another week, which had an obvious draw of its own as the NBC competition show saw a 3% bop up in the demo last night to be the highest rated show on the Big 4.
Did you watch Supergirl’s second episode last night? Leading out, The Minority Report (1.8 mil/0.6) slipped in total viewers while holding steady in the demo.

The game was also shown on ABC affiliates in Charlotte and Indianapolis, so the early numbers for ABC are likely inflated. Leading out, ABC’s CMA special averaged 5.5 million total viewers and a 1.0 demo rating.
