The US and Russian air forces successfully conducted a safety protocol in the Syrian skies to avoid any kind of accidental clash while the two nations carry out separate missions over the disputed region.
“There can be different emergencies, such as hijacking the jet on the territory of a neighbouring country or an attack on it”, he said.
The final Vienna document on Syria envisions the establishment of a special governing body that will be involved in adoption of a new constitution and preparation of elections.
A meeting of top diplomats from world powers including Russian Federation, the US, Iran, China, and European and Middle Eastern nations in Vienna last week produced no breakthrough, with the main sides disagreeing over whether Assad can stay in power.
Russian Federation is believed to be Assad’s strongest backer and has previously balked at the West’s suggestions that the Syrian president should be ousted.
Meanwhile, the Israeli news site nrg reported on Tuesday that Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Moscow does not view it as vital to Syria’s interests to have Assad remain in power.
The USA and its allies said Assad can not be part of any long-term political solution for Syria.
Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov will meet UN Syria envoy Staffan de Mistura in Moscow on Wednesday to discuss attempts to start a dialogue between Damascus and the Syrian opposition, Moscow’s foreign ministry said.
He also said the U.N.is ready to host talks between the Syrian government and the opposition “immediately”.
That includes members of the National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces (SNC), which is Syria’s Western-backed political opposition bloc.
State TV said the road was now being demined and would reopen to traffic Thursday.

The Britain-based said warplanes belonging to either Russian Federation or the Syrian regime bombed IS’s de facto capital Raqa on Tuesday, killing at least 23 people including 13 jihadists. The negotiations left open the thorny question of when Assad might leave power, and it was unclear whether he or disparate rebel groups fighting to topple him would sign on to any peace proposal.
